New cake pics
Here's a picture of the cowhide rug, before it's so cluttered with crap, and the little end table before it, too, is covered.

Obviously the heads aren't on yet, but I think that's the last thing I plan to do. I'm not going to make a lamp, because I think it's a pretty full piece as it is. I'd like something behind the couple, but 1) I'm kind of over this project, and 2) I'm kind of over this project.

Everywhere on the board there is something to look at. I hope the judges don't find it too cluttered and deduct points. It is a fairly accurate representation of a Christmas morning, I think. Except with waaaaaaaay fewer toys and wrapping paper. I was going to put more wrapping paper and ribbon debris, but I don't think it will fit anywhere! The star for the Christmas tree is ready, but I haven't put it on yet. I also painted gold bands on the left ring fingers of the parents.

My Cake Show Entry
It's NOWHERE near complete, but it's a start. There is absolutely zero cake on the board; it's all sugar work.
I have to model four people: the parents and two kids; I have to paint the nailhead trim on the couch; probably make an end table for at least one of those giant mugs and cinnamon rolls to sit on; put icing on the rolls; decorate the Christmas tree; and figure out the placement of everything. I'll probably scatter some more wrapping paper and ribbons around the floor, if it doesn't look too crowded. With only one person out of five, the board is looking nice and full already, don't you think?
The show is Saturday and Sunday in Austin.

Feed With Style and Flair
MomDot is having a really great contest right now, for something I truly, truly need.
It's for a Boon high chair, the Flair pedestal chair. This chair is the best high chair I have ever seen. Now, my kids are all grown up, with children of their own, yippee!!! I have seven grandchildren, one of them brand-spanking new, and one on the way! I'm blessed, I know. But I really need a new high chair.
Because this is what we use now:
I'm supposed to decorate this chair as part of the contest, but I think the rust pretty well does that... don't you think? And the rope holding the tray onto the chair? Beautiful, I know.
Just look at that face! Doesn't he look humiliated to have to sit there in that thing? It's not too bad, right? It doesn't look like it, but it's clean! We put a placemat down before we put his bowl on there, though.
When we have more than one baby here, we use this as a back-up:
??????????????????????????????????
I'm just not crazy about this one, either. The tray is (obviously) broken, but you can't see that the screws that hold the tray to the chair are gone, so it's just sitting there. Usually we just pull this one up to the table.
It works, but I think the Boon chair is a whole lot better, don't you?
Hopefully the ladies at MomDot will, too!
